A family story...

In 2003, Alain Chappet fell in love with the village of Maruéjols, where he purchased a second home for his family while continuing his work as a marble tiler in Lyon. He began planting olive trees in Maruéjols, and in 2016, he decided to settle there permanently and become a farmer.

In 2017, the purchase of an old, abandoned wine cellar sparked the creation of a new project. Once restored, the cellar housed an olive oil mill in the basement, while the ground floor became the restaurant run by his son.

... based on a legend

In St Côme-et-Maruéjols, on a hill that rises to 184 meters above sea level, lies the Oppidum of Mouressipe. It benefits from a natural defensive site, and the abundant presence of water (Font Robert) promoted its development between the 4th and 1st centuries BC. Probably due to valuable marls (clays) for potters, a small town grew around a large tower (observatory) similar to the Tour Magne in Nîmes. It was during this period that the Sacred Wood was born. How? Like a legend.

A few hundred meters from Mouressipe, a gap with rocks washed by the years, stands a forest of natural Yews. It is in this natural space that, according to the legend, the sacred meetings of the Druids took place, hence the mythical name of the Sacred Wood.

It is this forest and its unique soil that allow our olive trees to thrive, and which gave its name to our olive oil.
